The BSc in Business and Management with Welsh within the Aberystwyth Business School will prepare you for the perfect introduction to a career in the business world.  This degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Our teaching experts will guide you through areas of marketing, operations management, finance, accounting, strategy and human resource management, entrepreneurship in addition to the range of cutting-edge specialist modules. This course is taught jointly between the Aberystwyth Business School and Department of Welsh & Celtic studies. Students on this course can study up to 70% of the degree through the medium of Welsh. This degree is engineered for a student who wants to excel and succeed to the top level of global business management practice.

What will I learn?

The breakdown below will provide you with an illustration of what you may study during the three year degree scheme.

In your first year you will discover: 

  • Fundamental principles of management
  • The dynamics of the modern business environment 
  • The use of financial and accounting information in management decisions at operational and strategic levels

  • Selection of modules from the Department of Welsh and Celtic studies

In your second year you will explore: 

  • The organisational behavior and theory 
  • Theories and techniques of operations management
  • Market structures and pricing strategies 
  • The skills, analytical tools and techniques to identify and address problems and opportunities in business management and marketing 
  • Selection of modules from the Department of Welsh and Celtic studies

In your third year you will study:

  • The business strategy and how it functions both internally and externally to the business environment 
  • Human resource management 
  • The understanding of current management thinking from both practical and theoretical perspectives
  • A compulsory independent research project which will give you the opportunity to specialize in a particular aspect of business management and marketing 
  • Selection of modules from the Department of Welsh and Celtic studies
  • Optional modules are available to allow you to direct your learning and preferred specialism
