Am I guaranteed accommodation?

You are guaranteed accommodation for your first year of study if you are a:

  • New full-time Undergraduate student.
  • New postgraduate student.
  • International exchange/Erasmus student.
  • Student returning from a temporary withdrawal/leave of absence to recommence their first year of study.

To qualify for a guaranteed place, applicants must ensure that their accommodation application is received by the published deadline dates in the year of entry and that they complete their Occupation Contract by the deadline date detailed in the Accommodation Portal. Please note that a place in University owned or managed accommodation is guaranteed, but not a specific type of room or location - please see our Priorities Policy for additional information.

What’s the deadline to apply?

We guarantee all first-year students a place in university owned or managed accommodation, as long as you apply before 1 September 2024. You must also respond to your offer of accommodation by the deadline date detailed in the Accommodation Offer.

Please note that choice of accommodation and rooms are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Although a place in university owned or managed accommodation is guaranteed, we cannot guarantee a specific type of room or location.

What’s the application process like?

When applying for accommodation, you will be able to select your hall and individual room.

You can see a list of rooms available when you log onto the portal.

Although we guarantee accommodation for all first-year students, please note that choice of accommodation and rooms are chosen on a first-come-first-served basis.

Is it worth contacting the support team prior to applying for accommodation if I have accessibility requirements? Or do I wait until applications open?

If you have already disclosed a disability or accessibility need on your UCAS form, then Student Support will be in touch sometime in August.

Contacting student support does not guarantee that you will get a certain type of accommodation.

How long will it take find out if we have been accepted into the chosen accommodation?

You chose your own rooms, so as soon as you’ve chosen a room and followed the process through, you will have secured a room.
